Today we started taking notes on the different types of rocks and the rock cycle. We are using NearPod to take notes, but I have attached the presentation and the guided notes below. Each child got a guided notes sheet today since this is the first time using NearPod. We only got through the first few slides in each class because there are activities they do on the app along the way.

Today the homework sheet below was assigned. This is due Friday. We have started our new objective about the rock cycle today using the JIGSAW method. Your child is becoming the expert of one of their vocabulary words and will teach this to their group tomorrow. Ask them about their vocabulary word tonight! They should be able to give a description and even list examples and non examples. We will be taking notes using the NearPod app on Friday and Monday.
We will be having a comprehensive vocabulary test this Thursday, October 20th. Students received a study guide in claws yesterday. Unlike the last study guide, there is nothing to fill in for this one It is just to be used as review and does not need to be turned back in. It should be kept in the vocabulary section of your child's binder. This will be the last test for this quarter, but we will also be doing an activity in class this week that will be counted as a major assessment as well.
The rest of this week we will be getting our notes from the two presentations below, made by the county. I have also created guided notes sheets for each, and EVERY student is getting them this week since the presentations are a little bit longer than usual. Please review these with your child over the next few nights and make sure that they have everything filled in. :) Next week, we will also be having a comprehensive vocabulary test for the objectives that we have covered thus far. Students will be getting a study guide on Monday and the test will be on Thursday, October 20th. Please help your child review their vocabulary each night in preparation for our second MAJOR test.
All CIA groups this week are discussing digital citizenship to think about how much we are online, whether it's good or bad, and what we can do to have a better, safer online presence. I had some of the students ask me about the game that we started to play today, so I though I would share the link. Just click the button below to go to the website to learn more about digital citizenship and play the games. :)
I have also posted the link below to the website we are using in class today about earthquakes. It has some useful information for the test Friday as well as just some really neat facts! Feel free to check it out and ask your child to explain the importance of the Ring of Fire to you. We used the following county presentation to get our notes today. Please compare the presentation to your child's notes to make sure that they have the essential information. I have also attached a guided note sheet to help guide you if your child's notes are missing or if they were absent today. Reminder: We have our first MAJOR assessment this Friday. Below you will find the study guide that I am giving out today. This is due Friday for a homework grade. Please help your child review the study guide each night in preparation for this test. Don't forget- per WMS grading policy, tests are worth 55% of your child's overall grade!
