To summarize last week, we were a little short on class time due to the pep rally and early release, but we still got a lot done! Your child was supposed to read, annotate, and answer a few questions using the "Water on Earth" article given out Wednesday. On Thursday, they were given 5 comprehension questions about the article that counted as a quiz grade. They were allowed to use the article to help them with the questions:
-How does water play a vital role in shaping the Earth? -Using the terms erosion, weathering, and deposition, explain how the Grand Canyon was formed. -List some places in your community that you might see evidence of weathering and erosion and explain each. -What are some negative consequences of weathering and erosion? (both natural and man-made?) -Based on what you have read, what are your thoughts about fertilizer? Use evidence from the text to support your claim. This week, we are wrapping up the unit with the soil and rock cycle objectives. Ask your child how water has shaped the Earth this week and listen to everything they've learned so far! You can check their notes tomorrow and help them review for the assessment at the end of this week. On Wednesday, we will be joining Mrs. McShea's class for an outdoor Vocabulary Scavenger Hunt! This information is what will drive this week's assessment. Just a few reminders... ALL missing/late work is DUE TOMORROW! This is the last chance to turn in any late work from this quarter. Starting next week, we will no longer accept late work in accordance with the WMS grading policy. Please help us to help your child stay on track and get their work turned in on time in the future. :) ALL test re-takes are DUE FRIDAY. I have personally reminded each student that did not get a passing grade on their test to see me out of class time to make up their test. It is supposed to be your child's responsibility to see me if they want to make up a test, but no one asked for a re-test, so I thought I would give a friendly reminder. PLEASE check PowerSchool at the end of each week to make sure your child is getting their work complete. If you see that they have not passed any major assessment, please encourage your child to re-take the test and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions/concerns. Thank you :)
