I have added some more things under the Assignments & Resources tab. We are currently working with the Popcorn article, but I have added some extra articles from DiscoveryEd (your child has access to this site-it has some very valuable resources for extra practice!) that we have not gone over as a class yet but you are welcome to use as further review. I am also going to be playing around with getting my notes on here. We use a lot of symbols because we are learning to take short-hand notes, so I can't just type them into a Word document. I'm going to be trying to get them scanned in, so if it works you will see them under that tab shortly. :)
**My notebook with everything that we do in class is always available for your child at any time throughout the day if they need to catch up on any work. It just has to stay in my classroom since it is my only copy.**
This week we have started talking about heat. We have thoroughly discussed the "Popcorn" article and used it to take notes the past few days. We will be continuing this discussion next week with conductors and insulators. Our unit test is scheduled for the Friday (1/9/15) when we come back from break. A study guide will be sent home next Friday (12/19/14) and we will spend the week when we get back reviewing and tying up the unit. Our benchmark will be on 1/21/15. The quarter closes on 1/16/15. All missing work and test corrections will be due on January 16, 2015. No exceptions.
As incentive to complete all missing work, next Friday will be a day where we are going to have stations of science review games. Students may only participate in the games if they have all work completed and turned in by the beginning of class that day. If they still have missing work, they will be spending that class period working to make up their missing assignments. Let's get that work turned in so we can all have a fun review day! :)
**Don't forget, homework is DUE TOMORROW!!!**
Science class holiday wishlist:
- .5 & .7 cases of pencil lead
- Santizing wipes (Lysol, Clorox, etc.)
- dry erase markers
- hand soap
- extra composition notebooks
- construction paper
The extra credit homework is due TODAY for those that were here on Tuesday. I apologize, but the file was too large to add to the documents part of the Assignments & Resources tab (I couldn't get it from my phone to here). For those that were absent on Tuesday, they will get the packet today and it is DUE FRIDAY! If they have any questions about the different assignments, they can ask me during homeroom or lunch, or they can send me an e-mail (email@example.com). Again, I apologize for any inconvenience not posting the homework may have caused.
We will not have a homework packet this week. Students will be asked to complete the Lab Report on Wednesday for homework, which will be due on Friday.
For some of our projects this year, I will be asking for parent volunteers. If you already know that you would like to volunteer in the future, please contact me. Otherwise, the need for parent volunteers will be included in the weekly update. Thank you! :)
