First, the Argumentative Essay is DUE TOMORROW! We will be strictly following the WMS grading policy this quarter to get students prepared for 7th grade, which means this CANNOT BE TURNED IN LATE! If it is not turned in the day that it is due for your child (including days of absence, if necessary), it will be a zero. This is a formative assignment. Our Q3 Benchmark will be on Thursday of this week. I have given students a studyguide to review the past few units that will be covered on the Benchmark. Instead of giving them the unit test the following day, I have decided to take the studyguide as the MAJOR grade for this unit. It will be due on Thursday, and they have two entire class periods to work on it. We will also go over the more difficult questions on Wednesday as a class. Many students got through almost the entire studyguide in just one class period, as it is a review and all answers can be found within the notes, old classwork/quizzes, or bell ringers. The attached file is the Study Guide if you would like to look it over or if your child needs another copy!

We are about finished with our space unit! Currently we are studying the essential question: How has space exploration affected life on Earth? We have been discussing a timeline from the beginning of the space race until 2007. We've learned about various feats and advances as well as some tragedies that have been a result of space exploration. We will be taking the Benchmark next week! A study guide for this Benchmark will be given next week, on Thursday, April 9th. This week's homework: To write a full page (3 paragraph-- at least 4 sentences per paragraph) argumentative essay focusing on Monday's Bell Ringer. This will be for a formative grade. -Prompt: "There are rumors that NASA is will be ending its space exploration program. Do you agree or disagree with this decision? Why?" -Criteria: *At least one full page, of at least 3 paragraphs with at least 4 sentences in each paragraph *They must explain their argument with at least 5 pieces of supporting evidence >They can use notes taken in class OR they are allowed to do research in the library/online, but they must cite their source! *They must provide the opposing argument and their counter-argument. (They may use their Titanic essays from Mrs. Hick's class to help them construct this essay!)
